Slow Cooked Pork Shoulder

Ingredients:

  • 3 to 4 lb. boneless pork shoulder
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. salt

  • 1 tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp. onion powder
  • 1 tbsp. paprika
  • 1 tbsp. cumin
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard

 

Directions:

  1. Start by heating up the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the pork shoulder and sear it on all sides until it’s browned, about 3-4 minutes per side. This will help lock in the flavor and juices.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cumin. Rub this mixture all over the pork shoulder.
  3. Next, place the pork shoulder in your slow cooker and add the chicken broth, apple cider vinegar, honey, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard. Make sure to spread the sauce evenly over the pork shoulder.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-6 hours, until the pork is fork-tender and falls apart easily.
